In the fall of 2002, Turner flew to Israel in order to deeply explore and understand the Middle East conflict.  Two weeks later, he ventured into the West Bank with two Israeli human rights activists.  He spent nearly seven months in the Occupied Palestinian West Bank, filming ripples cross while working as an international observer and non-violent human rights activist.  ripples cross details his extraordinary experiences, including being shot by the Israeli Defense Forces and the subsequent night-time raid on the hospital where he was recovering from an M16 bullet wound.  The film also explores how Turner plans to change the way teens learn about what is happening in the Middle East .

TurnerÕs experiences have led to the creation of the Research Journalism Initiative, an interactive learning tool for high school and college students.  Using human rights activism as a platform for education, Turner will connect students in the US to kids their own age in the Middle East using live internet video conferencing.  They will direct their own learning by telling teams of activists what they want to see and by talking directly to Palestinian teens about life as refugees.
