The Research Journalism Initiative

The Research Journalism Initiative is a new media concept driven by the desire to foster better cultural and contextual understanding of geo-political and ethnic conflict. We strive to employ honesty, transparency and integrity as we explore the impact of conflict as a human experience. We wish to empower people to make more responsible and qualified decisions as educated voters, consumers and participants in the global economy, based in a real, experiential understanding of foreign policy issues.

Who we are

Across the world, non-violent activists are risking everything for the sake of others. They do it without pay, without popular support. They put their lives and livelihoods on the line to take a stand for social justice, international human rights law and civil liberty. They work tirelessly to promote the value of human life. They are extremely devoted, motivated and  talented. RJI will seek these people out, join them as activists, employ them as journalists, and support them as friends.

What we do

Feature audio newsreel packages for radio and internet broadcast; Feature video newsreel packages for television, documentary film and internet broadcast; On location, real-time news reporting and analysis of current events, political discourse and their representations within popular media; Explore cultural representations of conflict within art, religion, literature, prose, photography, television, and music in our effort to investigate and contextualize the mechanisms that perpetuate conflict.
